Sadism

I don't really know what makes someone find pleasure in the pain of others. I think there must be something in their head that either just doesn't click right, or simply isn't there. To see someone or something going through pain and to find joy in that is a strange and disturbing phenomenon to consider or witness. If you ask me, a person who is sadistic is someone that is just off in one way or another, there's really no other way I can think of to put it. I absolutely hate to witness pain. I hate to see someone or something going through any kind of misfortune. It repulses me and to think that there are people out there that respond to such things in the exact opposite fashion is disturbing and unsettling to say the very least. This world is full of pain. It's full of hardships, burdens, and a countless number of crosses weighing down on the countless individuals who inhabit this world. To find joy in that is something that I just can't seem to wrap my head around. Actually, I'm going to talk that last statement back. There is one way I can kind of understand sadism. I think that there is a way to see someone in pain and to take pleasure in the fact that it isn't your own misfortune as a way to explain the phenomenon of sadism, but that's pretty much the only way I can somewhat understand it. Sadism is ugly, plain and simple, but there are some people in this world that are simply wired that way. The important thing is to combat toxic sadism wherever it rears it's ugly head. The less pain there is in the world, the better, and to think that there are some people out there that find joy in witnessing the pain that does exist is something that I find especially unsettling.
