There were a number of factors that led up to the occurrence of the historical event known as the American Revolution, but the most prominent one, to the best of my knowledge, was the oppressive nature of the United Kingdom as they sought to essentially get the most out of their colonies while ignoring their cries to at the very least have a say in what was going on. The American Revolution, contrary to what many people know, is different from the revolutionary war. The revolution is essentially what led up to it. It was an explosion of growth, ideas, and a quickly cementing sense of pride and identity separate from the United Kingdom. It should be said that the colonists shared many of the same ideals as those that they came from. Freedom, free enterprise and democracy are far from uniquely American ideas, they are very much British as well, but what really came out of the American Revolution wasn't just a revamping of those ideas, but also a vision of what was to come from this new, exciting, and ever growing region. I think the revolution really was inevitable. The colonies were developing their own culture, their own path, and their own history that was separate from that of the old world. That's not to say that there were hard feelings towards the old ways, in fact, the new path being forged by the colonies was very much built on what had come before them, but with a new continent, a new world, came the necessity for a complete overhaul of everything. That's just what the American Revolution was. It's such a fascinating topic to delve into. The more one reads about it, the more pride one is filled by the bravery, intelligence, and over all attitude exemplified by the early Americans. I think the American Revolution was so much more influential than they realized at the time. As we look at subsequent revolutions that have occurred after, we see that many people have followed the same framework that the Americans laid down. The spirit of freedom and independence that came from it became an infectious force that spread throughout the world like wildfire and helped to give birth to the new world that we know today and that fills me with immeasurable pride.
