I try to do my best to do my part and recycle whenever I can, but I have to admit that I fall short sometimes. I like to get up on my high horse and preach about how we all need to do our part to make our planet a better place, but at the same time I fall prey to laziness from time to time. I recognize that makes me a hypocrite, but in some ways that's a good thing because I can use it as fuel to keep myself accountable in the future. While I'm far from a perfect eco warrior myself, I can at least say that I make an honest effort. That's more than can be said for many people. It never fails to infuriate me to see someone just throw their trash on the ground when there is a perfectly good recycling bin right in front of them. It's like some people either don't care or have simply given up on the cause all together and that's truly saddening. It should also be said that it's not just up to the individual to recycle, we need to keep and hold industries accountable for the mark they make on the world. Some companies have committed unspeakable crimes against the environment and unless we remain vigilant and persistent, they will continue to do so. That's not to say that they're all bad. No, many companies have made great strides to clean up their act and that's commendable, but the battle is far from over. We need to do what we can every day to keep this world beautiful for our descendants to enjoy, and that's not an easy thing, but sometimes, it's as simple as taking that can and throwing it in the recycling instead of the trash. Consciousness, it's all about consciousness. If you haven't thought about what you've done for the world today, big or small, here's your reminder.
