White Supremacy

Lately I've been watching a few podcasts and reading a few blog entries by white supremacists, certainly not because I agree with any of the bile that they're spewing, but rather to gain a certain level of understanding of the way that they think so that I can effectively counteract their rhetoric should I ever have the displeasure of having a conversation with one of them. From delving into the subject, I've learned a few things about the mentality and of a few common dispositions that many of them seem to have in common. First of all, all of the white supremacists I've heard from seem absolutely, one hundred percent convinced that not only are they correct in their thinking, but that they're doing a sort of noble act by doing what they do. They also believe in a large amount of pseudoscience, which wasn't particularly surprising to find out. After all, such a philosophy couldn't really be supported by actual science. White supremacists view themselves as superior to other races in every way shape and form. Many of them exude an air of arrogance with a prominent menacing undertone. I think the reason that undertone is so obviously present is that the endgame that they are all working towards by spreading their logic is something of a very dark and sinister nature that, tragically, the world has seen before. That's not to say that all of them want the same things or that they all hold the exact same views. There are many subdivisions within the realm of white supremacy. There are those that consider themselves "race realists", these individuals rely the most heavily on pseudoscience as a means of explaining their flawed views. They seem to be obsessed with IQ tests and the idea that there is a vast disparity between all of the races that would never be able to be sustained in an environment in which they all lived together. That leads to the next subdivision; white nationalists. This strain firmly believes that white people not only deserve their own countries, but require them in order for their survival. White nationalists don't seem to have much actual hatred of other races, in fact, most of them seem to think that the other races deserve nations of their own just as much as Caucasians do, but they are adamant in their belief that there should be no intermingling. Next you have, of course, your conventional neo Nazis, Ku Klux Klan, and skin heads, whose ideologies we are all familiar with if we've had even a remedial education in the humanities of the twentieth and twenty first centuries. I don't think I need to go into any further depth on them. There are many other subdivisions of the ideology but I think at this point you get the general gist of what they're about. White supremacy of today is something that is especially troubling to me. The reason for that is that if you are observing it, if you have your finger to the pulse, you will see that it is changing and evolving. White supremacists are becoming increasingly good at repackaging themselves to appear as if they are espousing some sort of new and exciting ideology, and it's fooling a lot of people. Even on the internet, there have been many instances of individuals sharing content with white supremacist undertones without even fully comprehending what they are spreading. White supremacy is becoming more subtle, more "intellectualized" and it's learning every day how to efficiently and surreptitiously spread its disease throughout not just the hateful underbelly of society, but out in the open. White supremacy is a very real threat that needs to be combatted and stomped out wherever it rears its ugly head. The big problem is, like I said, it's not as obvious as it used to be. In an ideal world, hatred would have no platform. In an ideal world these archaic ideas would be left to fade into obscurity where they belong, and we as a society would reject them for the filth that they are. Sadly, that's not the world we live in, and I believe that it will be a constant battle to combat this parasite suckling on the underside of humanity.
