It's not an easy thing to do. To come to terms with the fact that despite all the amazing and beautiful things this world has to offer, there is a very dark and ugly underside to it all. Sooner or later we all have to come out of our nice, safe, little bubble and realize that there are horrible people out there that do abhorrent things. I can't think of a more perfect example of this than human trafficking. In this day and age, we'd all like to think that such a practice is a thing of the past, but if you dig just beneath the surface ON the matter, you'll see the disgusting truth just as I have. Human trafficking rings are all too real, and it will require a significant effort on the parts of the governments of the world, citizen informants and all the individuals who know of specific situations that have the moral fortitude to bring these disgusting institutions to justice. It's not a pleasant thing to think about, but we all know why these organizations target individuals to bring in to their rings. It's hard for me to even type it, so I'll just leave you to mull over the truth that you know damn well. I think that, in order for someone to be able to buy and sell a living human being and still sleep at night, there is something that's either present, or missing from their character. Whatever it is that gives someone a moral compass, a sense of right and wrong, is simply missing from those individuals. They are, to put it plainly and simply, morally dead. Each and every human being has value, but that value isn't the kind that can be measured, bought, and sold. We aren't livestock, we aren't objects, we aren't commodities, and to think otherwise means that a certain aspect of humanity is just missing from you. There are many things in this world that are subjective. On many topics, there is a vast sea of gray area between the concepts of right and wrong, but when discussing this matter, that simply isn't the case. Human trafficking is one hundred and twenty percent wrong. It's really bizarre typing that. What I mean by that, is that that previous sentence is something that I consider to be so painfully obvious that it would go without saying. Unfortunately, to some individuals, the evil nature of human trafficking isn't something that they comprehend. If everyone believed it was wrong, the institution wouldn't exist, but it does. When we think of the concept of buying and selling human beings, we instinctively think of that in the historical context. We think of it as an archaic and morally abhorrent concept that humanity outgrew long ago, but the truth of the matter is that it is a very real problem that we are still dealing with to this day. How can we bring an end to human trafficking? If I knew the answer to that question, I'd be screaming it to the heavens for all the world to hear. I'd be doing anything and everything in my power to use that knowledge to put the nails in the coffin of the matter as quickly and swiftly as possible, but I don't have that answer. That's not to say that the world is entirely powerless to combat the matter. There is a human trafficking hotline that I strongly encourage you to look up. It's as simple as typing "human trafficking" into google. Unfortunately, from what I've found out on the matter, most of human trafficking occurs throughout the developing world, but that's not to say that it's nonexistent in countries such as the United States. No matter what level of socioeconomic status a nation is categorized as, there are truly evil people on every level, and we're no exception. Evil isn't confined to a certain corner of the world. Malice isn't something that is measured by wealth or status. Rather these things that are intrinsically intertwined with the institution of human trafficking are manifested all over, like a disease that is slowly killing the very moral core of this world. If you ever see something suspicious, if you ever get the feeling that something morally wrong is going on in your vicinity, you not only have the ability to do something, you have the moral obligation to. Call the hotline, and do your part to combat the insidious institution known as human trafficking.
