Theatre really is a unique and fascinating form of artistic story telling. I love everything about it; the plot lines, the effects, the showmanship, and the performance of the stage actors are all absolutely captivating aspects of the whole experience. I've seen many plays throughout my life; Wicked, Macbeth, Billy Elliot, Hamlet, A Midsummer Night's Dream, as well as Othello just to name a few. I had the singular and unique experience of witnessing the performances of Shakespearian plays at the one and only original Globe Theatre in London and I'll always cherish those memories for the rest of my life. While I've seen my fair share of plays, I've only performed in one, and that was just a production of Oklahoma back when I was in high school. While it was a small time thing, and I only had a seemingly insignificant ensemble part, it was still a unique experience to be a part of a group effort to tell a time honored story on the stage. While I'm not the worlds biggest theatre buff, I do have a deep appreciation of the art form. I admire the talent and dedication it takes for someone to not only memories their lines, but to convey them in a spellbinding performance of their characters that captures the hearts and imaginations of the audience. What makes someone a good actor, in my opinion, is being able to not just portray their character, but to bring them to life. A good actor draws you in to the story and makes you forget that it's just a portrayal. They make the audience invested in the story and deeply interested in how the story ends up. It's definitely a rare talent, that's for damn sure. Only a select few people have the talent, dedication, and capacity to be truly great actors. While I doubt I could ever be an actor, I still love not only watching, but enjoying the whole experience known as theatre. It's not just the actors however, that make the theatrical experience. It's the scenery, plot lines, writing, and background all put together that makes it not only a show, but a true adventure for the audience to be a part of. I'm happy to know that there will be plenty of more theatrical performances for me to enjoy throughout my life. I truly do feel sorry for those who don't allow themselves to savor and enjoy the experience of theatre.
