"We all make mistakes." This is such one of the most cliché yet at the same time, truest statements in existence. Yes everyone slips up from time to time, but how frequently and how the individual handles their mishaps varies greatly. Some people will make a mistake then go about doing the same things that led them there without thinking about it. These people are fools. Unfortunately, I've been guilty of this at many times. These people, my self included, are fools because they walk right back into the same pitfalls that they know all too well are there. It's hard to come up with an explanation for this, if there even is a reasonable one, which in many cases there isn't. There are also people who allow themselves to learn and to grow from their mistakes. These people are, unfortunately, much less common, or just aren't as consistent with their learning. For those of us who are imperfect human beings, mistakes are an inevitable part of life. Unfortunate as that may be, we need to remember to look at each mistake we make as an opportunity to learn more about ourselves and about the world around us. We can also learn a great deal from the mistakes of others if we are open to and willing to observe. From observing others we can see more roads that lead to failure and how to avoid going down those same roads. That's essentially a cheat code that's applicable to our real lives, which I think is so much more of an amazing thing than most people realize or would care to admit. Again, in our lives, mistakes are inevitable. There will always be some hurdles that we will be unable to avoid and will in turn trip us up, but when we do inevitably falter, we need to always reminder one specific and profoundly important quote: "The only true mistakes are the ones we don't learn from."
