I can understand what would bring some people to commit the act of theft, but that still doesn't make it alright. I'm sure that there are many people in the world that resort to stealing simply as a means of survival, but I think that there are also plenty of people that steal for less understandable reasons. I think that for many people, the reason they resort to theft is the aspect of the thrill. They get a rush of adrenaline from the idea of the possibility of getting away with it in the end. This is the textbook description of a kleptomaniac, but I don't think that everyone who steals necessarily falls under that category. I think that often times people steal out of the perception of necessity for survival. But again, that still doesn't make it ok. For me personally, I feel insulted and disrespected when I am stolen from. I feel angry, I feel cheated, and I feel animosity towards whoever stole from me. It's for that reason that I would hope I never commit the act of theft, whether knowingly or subconsciously. It's not my right to make someone else feel the same way I do when I'm stolen from. Theft is the act of a lowly and morally bankrupt individual that has no respect for those that their stealing from or for themselves.
