There are few topics as interesting and unnerving as the concept of artificial intelligence. Every day we're making leaps and bounds in the field of technology and we're getting closer and closer to the point when the technology we have created can improve and advance itself without our involvement. It's hard to say what will happen, if anything, as technology gets smarter and smarter. I'm not going to lie, the idea of machines being able to think and reason for themselves is a little unnerving. Mainly, it's disturbing because it's like we're playing god by creating things that cam think for themselves. It also begs the moral question of whether or not it is ok for us to destroy that which has become self aware. I remember reading an alarming article about an android with artificial intelligence that could read and learn and it said something along the lines of wanting to cause human beings pain. I think the article also said that the android picked up on a lot of genocidal rhetoric from historical figures such as Adolf Hitler. This makes me deeply worried about whether or not it's a good idea to venture further into the development of artificial intelligence, because we may not fully comprehend the ramifications of what we are creating.
