We all have things that hold us back from doing what we know we need to do. I know I sure as hell do. Reservations are the chains that keep us from accomplishing our goals, from moving forward in life, and from becoming the individuals we know we can be. My reservations cause me to second guess myself far too often. They cause me to hesitate, to doubt, and to stay within my comfort zone. I know I need to let go of these reservations, but doing so is much easier said than done. We get our reservations from the times when stepping out of our comfort zone has backfired on us. When we experience misfortune, it trains us to stay in our comfort zone. The problem with this is that we'll never grow as individuals if we allow our reservations to be in control. If we never take risks, we'll never get the pay off of things turning out well from those very gambles. They call it the comfort zone for a reason. It's where we feel safe. It's where we aren't exposed to stress and anxiety, and because of this, it's particularly difficult to take control back from our reservations, go against our instincts, and take risks. Even though it may be difficult, we all need to do our utmost to leave our reservations behind and do the things that make us uncomfortable. Reservations aren't always a bad thing however. The reason we have them in the first place is a primal instinct inside each and every one of us that tells us when something might be a bad idea. Sometimes listening to our reservations is a good thing, especially in situations where we stand to suffer harm in one way or another. We all need to take the time to weigh the ramifications versus the rewards of each of our actions. Knowing the difference is the key here.
