From what I know, the marines are the most elite and selective branch of the military. They are the branch that only accepts the best of the best into their ranks. I should say that saying that doesn't mean that I respect any other branch any less, it just means that I'm aware of the fact that the marines are a more selective group that requires individuals to have exceptional discipline, fitness, intellect, and fortitude in order to get in. In my understanding, the marines are a branch that deals with all three arenas of the military; land, sea, and sky, they are just more elite versions of dealing with those three arenas. "The few, the proud, the marines" is what I know to be the slogan/motto of that branch and I find it to be quite fitting considering the extremely selective nature of the particular branch. I know I could never be a marine. I just don't have it in me. Not just because I don't think I have the discipline for it, but because I think it is a path that one must dedicate themselves to completely and I just don't think my goals in life align with that. Still, I always have and always will have a profound respect for the marines and all that they do both at home and abroad to protect our country and our way of life. I know I've been writing a fair amount about the military lately, and that's because I feel it is necessary to go into a little bit of depth on each branch and what they contribute to society. Marines are amazing, there's no denying that, and all of them deserve our utmost respect for everything that they do.
