Emotions are some of the best, and some of the worst things we experience in our lifetime. Unfortunately, I especially as a man, am all too aware of the stigma of openly expressing emotions. As a man, society expects me to keep my feelings to myself, to be strong and stoic, but that goes against my very nature as a human being. Sometimes I want to laugh, to cry, to yell, etc. but I'm expected to keep myself in check. The bright side is that it's becoming more and more acceptable for men to express themselves emotionally in our society. However, there is a fine line between allowing your emotions to burst out like a geyser, and processing/expressing them in a healthy manner. A huge way I express my emotions is by doing the very thing that I'm doing right now; writing. Writing is my preferred means of venting as you, most likely, know all too well if you've read my blog entries before. If I'm feeling sad, I write about it. If I'm feeling angry, I write about it. If I'm feeling any strong emotion, I let it bleed out through my pen or keyboard and I feel significantly better after that release. We all have emotions, we just need to find a healthy means of expressing them.
