I've always thought it would be cool to be a fighter pilot when I was young. What child didn't? The excitement, the action, not to mention the courage and bravery required for the job are all strongly enticing. I know that there are many jobs in the air force besides being a fighter pilot, but that's the position that most captures my interest. Unfortunately I'll never be able to be a fighter pilot due to my height and poor eyesight, but nothing can stop me from flying in my day dreams. While most people consider the air force to be the "softest" of all the military branches, I would have to say that none of them are "soft" at all. They all require boot camp from what I understand, and they all require many tests and assessments before being admitted. The history of the air force is interesting as well. I love reading stories about world war one fighter pilots in particular. The air force requires discipline, bravery, and courage that not everyone has. The United States military is the finest in the world, so it's not surprising that they would only accept the finest individuals into their ranks. I have a strong appreciation of the air force and for the fine individuals who enter into it.
