Espionage has always fascinated me ever since I was a child. I still have vivid memories of a book I got as a kid that told about all of the different types of gadgets and techniques spies used and what espionage was like in general. Often times what comes to my mind when I think of espionage is the cold war era. Obviously that's what a lot of people think of; James Bond, Russian Spies, McCarthy, etc. But I know that espionage still goes on today and will continue to do so long into the future. Information can mean life or death. It can bring down entire nations, or it can create them. Information can mean the difference between winning a war, and losing a war which is why it is so strongly protected as well as sought after. I imagine that real life espionage is very different from what we see in the movies or read about in novels, but it still captures our hearts and imaginations. I sincerely doubt that real life spies are anything like James Bond, or that their lives are like a movie, but I would still imagine that it's an incredibly interesting life to live. Secrets are currency that can make a drastic difference in what direction society follows, which is why espionage will always be relevant.
