I've always believed that in times of conflict between nations, every possible option should be thoroughly exhausted before resorting to violence. I'm not naïve however, I know that there have been and will continue to be times when war is inevitable, but I feel that should be an absolute last resort. Peace is the foundation upon which humanity grows, war is what tears us down and holds us back. During times of peace we make progress, we grow and move forward as a society. As flawed human beings, we are animals deep down, and we are bound to resort to violence at some points, but I believe that as beings of a higher consciousness, we have not only the ability to fight those primal instincts, but the responsibility to do so and pursue different methods of conflict resolution. If you were to call me a "peace freak" I wouldn't deny that label because one of the principles I hold dearest to my heart is my belief that we must all listen to the angels of our better nature and pursue non violence fervently, even in times when it seems like it isn't an option. I'm this way because I have thoroughly studied history and have come to the conclusion that diplomacy trumping war is more beneficial for all nations involved in most instances. War profoundly saddens me because it is a perfect example of human beings succumbing to their lesser desires and becoming the ugliest version of themselves. While there certainly are many complex geopolitical conflicts in the world today, I truly believe that there is a way to resolve these without resorting to the barbaric practice of war. It's all a matter of leaders with more level heads taking the time to explore the issues from every possible angle so that they can solve the puzzles without violence.
