Stressors come in all shapes and sizes. They can come from external circumstances such as an unwelcome change or simply misfortune in the form of bad luck. Stress can come from too much responsibility or simply from feeling overwhelmed by the trials and tribulations of life in general. Stress can also often come from internal struggles. I know all too well from personal experience that mental illness is a huge source of stress for everyone that struggles with it. No matter what is causing us stress or where it is coming from, there are many methods of coping with it and it would behoove everyone to make themselves familiar with those coping methods and utilizing them when their stressors get out of hand. It's unfortunate, but often times stress gets the better of us and we allow it to cause us to shut down and not deal with what is causing us anguish. While most people are able to pull themselves out of those states, many struggle, and to them I say: the best method to handle the stress of life is to focus on one thing at a time, and do your best to keep everything else out of your mind until the task at hand is complete. That might not be as easy to do as it is to say, but it's just what has worked the best for me whenever I have dealt with overwhelmingly stressful circumstances.
