Taking care of yourself physically is crucial for your health. I've never understood how or why someone would just give up on taking care of their own personal hygiene. I know that I myself shower every day, brush my teeth multiple times a day, use deodorant, shave, and do all the other easy little things that go into self grooming. I am aware though, that those suffering from mental illness or physical maladies often forgo taking care of themselves because they either just don't have the energy and motivation, or they don't have the physical capacity to do so. For me personally, with my depression, I have gone through points where I can relate. But for the most part, I've always been able to pull myself out of the rut and resume my own personal hygiene. Not taking care of yourself doesn't just have consequences for your health, it has the obvious social ramifications. Nobody wants to be around someone who just over all is physically repulsive, we've learned that from a very young age. You only get one body in this life, so it will do you a lot of good to do all that you can in order to take care of it.
