It's absolutely amazing how far we've come in the field of medicine. Just to think about all the advances we've made, all the diseases that have been all but eradicated absolutely blows my mind. Throughout history there have been individuals who dared to think outside the box, to try new things, to look at medicine from a different angle in order to make progress that otherwise, would have never happened and I can't even describe how grateful I am to live in a time when all those advances have already been made. As amazing as all the progress of modern medicine is, with all that continual progress comes questions of the moral nature. When it comes to topics such as cloning or genetic manipulation, etc. I think we need to take a step back and ask ourselves the question of not "can we?" but the question of "should we?" As we advance further such questions will continue to rise, and that's just something fascinating and baffling about the times that we live in. I look forward to seeing and living through all of the many more advances in modern medicine that I know will be sure to occur in my lifetime.
