It's somewhat of a gamble every time we shut our eyes to go to sleep each night. Sometimes we'll have nothing but dreamless rest, sometimes we'll have vivid and fantastical dreams, but other times we will have the unpleasant experience of nightmares. I think that nightmares, while at times random, more often than not, are manifestations of our deepest fears and insecurities. I think that they reflect what troubles us in our waking lives, and they tell us what is really causing turmoil in our lives. In my own personal experience, I often can't remember my nightmares, even if I know I had them. Sometimes on the other hand, I'll go through the day having blissfully forgotten the distressing visions I had the night before, but other some other times I'll have moments of recollection of them and it reminds me of the unpleasant experience. Nightmares are never enjoyable, but often times it does us some good to process and reflect on them to try and figure out what is really causing them and what is really troubling us.
