Relationships are a crucial part of life. Human beings are naturally social creatures so obviously we all form all kinds of relationships throughout our life. The really cool thing is that each bond we form is different from all of the others. Whether it be a friendship, a romantic connection, a familial bond, or simply a relationship with a distance acquaintance. While relationships are certainly nice and can brighten up our lives, they also have a downside. Forming a relationship with someone leaves you in a vulnerable state in a way. That vulnerable state is due to the fact that the stronger the bond is, the more difficult it will be to move on if that bond is ever severed. This is unfortunately inevitable at times. People come and go throughout our life, that's just a difficult fact that we have to live with. Sometimes when people leave the stage of our life, it's for the best. That person could have been a toxic influence on us, and the bond that we shared with them could have been unhealthy and damaging. It's in those cases where cutting the bond is, while sometimes unpleasant at first, is ultimately necessary. Alright, now to get back to the positive aspect of relationships. Every connection we make, adds something to our own lives. It adds a friend, a lover, a family member, or even a passing character that amuses us for a brief time. Romantic relationships in particular, while they can be exciting and joyful, can carry a particularly heavy weight if and when they end. For many people, romantic relationships are like a supernova; they burn brightly, but for a short time. Unfortunate as that is, it's just a part of life, and we all ultimately grow as individuals because of it. Familial relationships are quite different. You can choose your friends, you can choose your romantic partners, but family is chosen for you. The relationship we share with our families are, in most cases, permanent and likely the strongest we will experience. I know that I personally, value each relationship I have with everyone in my life. They may come and go, but I've learned to appreciate them as they do.
