I'm aware that many people think the world would be better off without government. Many people think government has gotten too big and powerful and no longer has the best interest of the public in mind. However, I don't think anarchy is the answer. In my opinion, our society needs a certain amount of structure in order to properly function. Now, that's not to say I don't think there should be checks and balances to keep government in line, I absolutely do. However, removing it all together would, in my opinion, lead to complete and utter chaos. As long as government is kept in check I believe that it is a necessary establishment to keep order. Anarchists are often portrayed as opportunist hooligans who only want to cause chaos and make trouble for society, but I am well aware that this image doesn't encompass all the people who believe in the form of, or lack there of, government. They do provide some valid points. For instance, in many nations their established governments have become tyrannical and frequently abuse their power. However, this is not reflective of every government that exists or has existed in the past. We as a society need a degree of structure to keep the order and peace, this is something I've always believed in. Anarchy would lead to complete and utter chaos. Infrastructure would crumble, criminals would run rampant with no law enforcement to keep them in check and all the aspects of government that have provided aid and organization to the public would cease to exist and perform their crucial functions. As I've said many times before, there is no perfect form of government, but the alternative of having the institution removed all together would have terrible consequences for society. You may call me a "statist" for believing this, but I think having organized government is necessary for society to properly function.
