The most beautiful thing about art is that it effects everyone differently. Every person feels something unique when they look at a piece of artwork, something that only they can experience. The phrase "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" holds especially true when it comes to the concept of artwork. What one person might see and feel when they gaze upon a work of art, will always be different from what someone else might see and feel. For me personally, I need a good amount of time to truly take in and reflect on a specific piece of art. I need to take it all in and really reflect on it to process the emotions that wash over me when I see a particular piece. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not an art connoisseur by any means, but you really don't have to be an expert to take in and experience art. My favorite type of art is the abstract, I like to see strange and unusual pieces because I believe that they are the most open ended works. By that, I mean that you really get a particularly unique experience when looking at abstract art. It's been a while since I've created any pieces of visual art of my own, but I did create quite a bit during and shortly after high school. I would never call myself an expert or in any way professional, but again, just as when it comes to analyzing art, you don't have to be an expert to create it. Every piece of visual art anyone has ever created has value in my opinion. While of course there are pieces of art that are more well known than others, I would still say that even pieces created by lowly amateurs have intrinsic aesthetic value. Art is so much more than just creating something beautiful. Art is taking in the beauty of the world, interpreting it, channeling that beauty through ones own unique lens, and creating something amazing for every other person to enjoy.
