Yes I voted for Hillary Clinton in the last election. Why? For a number of reasons. First of all, when presented with the two candidates, I went into the voting booth with the mentality that it was my patriotic duty to vote for the candidate that I truly believed would be better for my country. To me, that choice was obvious. I didn't particularly care for Clinton's personality. I found her to be somewhat pandering and robotic. However, I knew that it was my responsibility to vote for, not who I liked more (if you've read this blog you know I find Trumps personality repulsive) but who I knew had the better credentials to be president. In my views, Hillary had the better credentials. She was a senator, a proactive first lady, and President Obama saw her fit to be secretary of state, which is why I voted for her. The first election I was able to vote in was the 2012 election between President Obama and Mitt Romney. When given those two choices, I saw two people who were both qualified for the job, I just believed Obama could do the job better. With the 2016 election, things were different in a very large way: I only saw one of the candidates as actually being qualified for the job, and that candidate was senator Clinton. I was well aware of the "controversies" around Clinton, which is why instead of believing every headline I saw, I did my own research. After doing so, I found that the vast majority of negative claims made against her, were either blown way out of proportion, or were just outright false. People claimed that she broke the law by using a private server, when in fact that wasn't illegal, but was irresponsible at worst. I also found out that, tragic as it was, there was little Secretary of State Clinton could have done to prevent the Benghazi incident. Now that's not to say Hillary wasn't without her flaws, she definitely had many. She was a bit hawkish, she voted to invade Iraq, and she seemed very disingenuous quite often. However, despite all her flaws, she was obviously the better candidate. Judging by the outcome of the popular vote, it seemed that a majority of Americans believed the same, although as we all know, the electoral college didn't see things that way and here we are two years later with a train wreck of a man representing our country. I can only hope that come 2020, another equally qualified candidate (hopefully with less baggage) will come forward and end this nonsense with the current president we have now. If Hillary Clinton were to run again, even though I'm fairly certain she wont, honestly, I'd vote for her again because she's a thousand steps up from the joke we have in the Oval Office right now.
