Communism

In a perfect society, free of human error and corruption, communism could work and would be a great thing. However, that scenario simply doesn't exist and unfortunately never will. On paper it sounds like a good system but in my opinion, it just isn't feasible given a number of reasons. First of all, many people are naturally ambitious, that is, they will always want and strive for more, while others are content with simply getting by. Communism doesn't take that into account. That natural sense of ambition, or greed depending on how you look at it, is a factor that will never go away. It would be nice if a society could put everyone on the same level and provide the basic necessities to everyone so that nobody would suffer a lack of resources, but another problem that has consistently arisen whenever communism has been attempted is that the government that plays the role of distributor often takes in more for those who are running the show, leaving less for the rest of the population they are supposedly providing for. The thing is, that isn't even really surprising, seeing as many people are naturally greedy, it's just to be expected. Another big problem is that in most communist regimes we've seen in the world, the element of totalitarianism is always strongly present. I think that such a strong presence of the state authority is one of the drawbacks that just sort of naturally goes along with the implementation of such an ambitious institution, noble as the original intentions might have been. Living in a society where everyone's needs are met and where everyone is equal sounds fantastic on paper but I think a fluid socioeconomic system such as capitalism, while yes it is flawed as well, is just more realistic in its application. Obviously there isn't a perfect form of government, but that's not to say we shouldn't strive to improve our civilization in any and every way we can. It would be fantastic if nobody had to live beneath the poverty line. It would be amazing if everyone was equal, but having a government, made of imperfect people in and of itself, attempting to force that equality on a population just never ends well. I see communism as sort of a pipe dream. Yes it is something that sounds good, but looking at it realistically, it just isn't feasible.
