What is success? To me success doesn't mean being wealthy or having a lot of possessions. To me, it doesn't mean surpassing all of your peers or gaining notoriety for your accomplishments. No, to me success is something that is defined by the individual. Success is when you are at a point in your life where you are satisfied with what you have accomplished. It is when you are performing at your absolute best and you know that. However, I wouldn't say that I'm a successful person by that definition. There is so much more that I want to do with my life than what I am doing now. The problem isn't that I don't know what to do in order to maximize my potential, the problem is that I don't have the motivation to do so. I know the steps I need to take but I've become complacent with where I am. I'm not exactly in a bad place in life though. I finished school and did fairly well at it. I am holding two jobs and am getting by when it comes to bills. I am a car owner and I am able to handle the expenses that come with that so when taking all of the above into account I wouldn't say that I'm successful but I would say that I'm doing an adequate job of getting by in life. However, adequate shouldn't be the bar. Success is going above and beyond, not doing the bare minimum. Success isn't simply having jobs, but it is excelling at them. I guess for the moment, I could be making changes to outperform myself at my work and continue to aim higher than I currently am. Success isn't something that comes easy. It's something that requires constant work and diligence, something that I'm trying to get to but am not quite there yet. I haven't achieved success yet, but I know that if I work hard enough, someday I will.
