I can't imagine how empty life would be without music. I'm not sure how I stack up with others but I find that throughout the day I'm exposed to music in almost all of my free time. I feel that it both stimulates and calms the mind at the same time. I listen to nearly every type of music there is. Whether it be rock, classical, hip hop, or other obscure genres, I am constantly exposing myself to one form or another. I listen to music when I'm relaxing, when I'm exercising, and when I'm writing because I find that there's always something that sets the mood for whatever activity I may be taking part of. I don't just enjoy listening to music, I enjoy making it as well. I've been playing guitar since I was in the fifth grade and always find immense enjoyment from it. If I'm having a bad day I find that picking up my guitar and just playing for a while tends to help me get away from it all at least for a bit. It allows me to decompress and relax. Often times I find that if I'm dealing with troubles, I tend to think clearer and see things from different perspectives after I've taken the time to just sit back and play for a while. Everybody likes different types of music and I think that what they're drawn to says a lot about who they are as a person. A persons taste in music offers a look into their mind and allows you to see what makes them happy, helps them relax and unwind after a long day. I have literally thousands of songs on my Spotify and it's interesting to look back and see the various phases of interest that I've had throughout the years. It lets me see what I was feeling at the time and what truly interested me. I used to be self conscious about what people might think about the music that I listen to but nowadays I've learned to put those thoughts aside and just listen to what I like even if it might be "uncool" or seem strange to others. Without musical stimulation in our lives I think we'd be missing out on such a huge pleasure that can't be compared to anything else.
