There have been many events in my life that made me want to give up and from time to time, I unfortunately did. However more often than not I have found the strength to keep pushing forward. Whether it be graduating from college, juggling involvement with multiple organizations in my free time, or working nearly non stop at three jobs. Whenever I find myself facing something difficult, it really helps me to look back on everything I've made it through and recognize that my capacity for dealing with endeavors is larger than I often give myself credit for. The main thing that keeps me moving forward is knowing the fact that life isn't easy and even if I'm going through a hard time or dealing with a difficult task, the world keeps turning and even if I don't succeed, I still have to keep trying because giving up just isn't an option sometimes. Perseverance, the way I see it, is crucial to making it through life. Although often times we find ourselves in a hopeless situation that we don't thing we'll be able to make it through, there isn't anything else we can do but to give it our best shot and hope that things work out. Even when we fail, we need to take our mistakes, study them, and learn how to avoid those pitfalls in the future so that we can succeed. The only true mistake is one that you don't learn from. A big part of perseverance is knowing that you aren't the only one dealing with difficult tasks. One of the biggest things that got me through college was knowing that everyone else is struggling through it with me. I've spent countless nights staying up working on papers and projects with others and that's what made it doable. Working several jobs at the same time was something that I was able to accomplish because I knew that somewhere out there there's someone dealing with so much more than I was. I knew that somewhere there are parents working more hours than I was in order to put food on the table and a roof over their families heads. I knew that as I was dealing with bills, there were people out there who can't even find work and are barely able to meet ends meet. Perseverance is difficult but I find that when the chips are down and we think we can't go on, it's the little victories that keep us going and remind us that we're more capable than we give ourselves credit for. If you're reading this and you're going through a hard time just know that you are strong, you are capable, and you'll get through this difficult time. The best advice I can give you is to make good use of tunnel vision and train yourself to focus on the task at hand and put future tasks out of your mind until you have to take them on. There's no use stressing about what you need to do in the future when you have to deal with the work at hand. If you focus on the steps far away, you'll trip on the ones right in front of you. Perseverance isn't an option, it's crucial in order for you to complete what needs to be done. I know it's tempting to give up from time to time, but just remember that you can do this.
